I'm a believer in the value of networking as a way to build clientele. I'm interested in hearing from people who have spent time online with social networking sites - do they work for business? Is anyone generating new clients this way?

I suppose it could depend on the type of industry you are in. Personally, I find the old fashion face-to-face or recommendations/referrals from existing clients or centres of influence works the best.

There is definitely some marketing opportunity through Social Networking, especially for small businesses. Many such businesses have adopted popular social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter in an attempt to build their brand, brand loyalty and drive business in through the door. It may not work for all types of businesses, but it certainly does have some proven success as stories like the following will attest.
